In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that West Ham United are keeping a keen eye on Atletico Madrid ace Alexander Sorloth. It has been stated that the Hammers are showing interest in landing the Norwegian striker next year.
Sorloth’s Impressive Form In Spanish Football
Sorloth has managed to shine at times for the Madrid club during this campaign after putting in a few eye-catching performances as the focal point of their attack. The Norwegian attacker has participated in 11 matches for Diego Simeone’s side this season, scoring one goal and securing a couple of assists in multiple competitions.
The 28-year-old has led the line well for Atletico Madrid as he is averaging 1.9 shots and 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession deep inside the opposition half as he has made just 65.2% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for West Ham to snap him up on the cheap next year.
What Will Sorloth Bring To West Ham United?
Sorloth can find some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third. Standing at 1.95m, the Norwegian talent can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, he has to find a way to improve his link-up play on the offensive end of the field.
We can expect Sorloth to bring more quality to West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui’s frontline. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at the London Stadium. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if West Ham manage to get him on board next year.
At 28, Sorloth is playing in his prime and could help the Hammers compete across all fronts over the next few years. Thus, the East London outfit should focus on going all out to bring him back to English football soon.
