In a recent report, Milan Live claimed that West Ham United are facing stiff competition for AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze. It has been stated that the Hammers would have to rival Newcastle United, Aston Villa and other Saudi Pro League clubs in the race to land the Nigerian wide player.
Chukwueze’s Recent Form In Serie A
Chukwueze has made a slow start to this campaign as he has struggled to be productive for AC Milan in front of the opponent’s goal. The 25-year-old has participated in seven matches for the Milan outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The Nigerian talent has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.7 shots and 0.7 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has been tidy when distributing possession in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 79% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at San Siro will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for West Ham to snap him up on the cheap next year.
West Ham United Are Facing Stiff Competition For Chukwueze: Is He Worth The Fight?
Chukwueze has got the pace to get in behind the opponent’s defence and can make some driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can engineer the odd chance for his teammates on the offensive end of the field.
The Nigerian sensation is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. He would undeniably bring more firepower to West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui’s attack.
Chukwueze has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the London Stadium in the coming years. At 25, the best is yet to come from him, so the Hammers would do well to bring him on board next year.
Chukwueze could even help the East London club compete for a top-half finish in the Premier League over the next few years. Thus, he would be well worth the fight as long as West Ham can land him for a fair price.
