In a recent report, journalist Harry Watkinson offered an update on the future of Everton striker Beto. It has been stated that the Toffees have no intention of letting the talented forward leave in the January transfer window.
Beto’s Recent Form In English Football
Beto has served as a good, rotational piece in Everton head coach Sean Dyche’s squad during this campaign. However, the Guinea-Bissau striker is currently not a guaranteed starter at Goodison Park as he is behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the Merseyside club’s pecking order. The 26-year-old has been involved in six matches for the Toffees this season, scoring one goal across multiple competitions.
The Lisboa-born talent has caught the eye at times in the final third based on his average of 2.0 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession deep inside the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 68.2% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Everton have no immediate need to cash in on Beto next year.
Should Everton Boss Sean Dyche Keep Hold Of Beto?
Beto can find some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can engineer the odd chance for others around him in and around the opponent’s penalty area and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Guinea-Bissau sensation can chip in by scoring some crucial goals for his team but needs to find a way to improve his link-up play on the offensive end of the pitch. Standing at 1.94m, he is a dominant presence in the air as he can use his strong frame to win his fair share of aerial duels.
Beto remains a decent presence in Sean Dyche’s Everton squad. Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to try and keep hold of him for the long run. Beto is still on a long-term contract at Goodison Park and could prove himself to be a success story in English football in the future. All in all, Dyche should retain the services of the talented attacker for the time being.
