In a recent report, The Mirror mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on recruiting Lecce wide player Patrick Dorgu. It has been stated that Spurs could face competition in the form of Chelsea in the race to land the Danish talent next year.
Dorgu’s Impressive Run Of Form In Serie A This Season
Dorgu has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club during this campaign after putting in a series of impressive displays on the left side of their midfield. The 19-year-old has found the back of the net once in nine matches for Lecce this season across all competitions.
The talented teenager has proven his worth on the left flank by averaging 2.0 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 2.1 shots and 0.9 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball from the wide areas based on his pass success rate of 74.5% in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for Spurs to sign him on the cheap next year.
Will Dorgu Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Ange Postecoglu?
Dorgu is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it on the left flank. He has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and usually works hard for his team defensively.
The Danish sensation can get stuck in with some solid tackles and usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot. He mainly operates as a left-sided wide player but can also play as a left-back if asked to do so.
Dorgu would bring more quality and depth to Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglu’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 19, Dorgu has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, he would be an excellent choice for Spurs to pursue this January or at the end of this campaign.
