In a recent report, Inter Live claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could move in for Inter Milan wide player Denzel Dumfries. It has been revealed that Spurs have identified the Dutch talent as a potential replacement for Pedro Porro who could leave the North London club next year.
Dumfries’ Form In Italian Football This Season
Dumfries has made a solid start to this Serie A campaign as he has produced some impressive performances on the right side of Inter’s defence. The 28-year-old has participated in seven matches for the Italian club this season, finding the back of the net once across all fronts.
The 28-year-old has made most of his appearances off the bench which explains why he is only averaging 0.6 tackles and 0.2 clearances per 90 minutes in Serie A football. He has been accurate when distributing the ball from the right flank based on his pass success rate of 84.6% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).
Dumfries is under contract at the Italian club until the end of this campaign which could open the door for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal this January or on a free transfer next summer.
What Will Dumfries Add To Tottenham Hotspur Boss Ange Postecoglu’s Side?
Dumfries is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive. The Dutch talent can even deliver a few inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty area. He is a strong runner with the ball and can strike it with venom from long range.
Dumfries is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if needed. We can expect him to add more quality to Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglu’s defence.
Dumfries has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club. Plus, he could help Spurs compete across all fronts in the coming years. At 28, Dumfries is playing in his prime which makes him a worthy target for Tottenham to consider next year. Plus, he is on an expiring contract, so Spurs should focus on going all out to sign him on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
