In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Leicester City talent Caleb Okoli. It has been stated that Spurs are keeping tabs on the progress of the Italian centre-back ahead of a potential move next year.
Okoli’s Impressive Form In The Premier League This Season
Okoli has enjoyed a fine run of form at the East Midlands club during this campaign after he produced a series of impressive performances at the heart of their defence. The 23-year-old has made seven appearances for Leicester this season across various competitions.
The Vicenza-born talent has been a dominant presence when defending inside his half as he is averaging 2.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 7.0 clearances per game in the Premier League. He has also been excellent when distributing the ball from the back, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 87.3% in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Leicester will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, the North London outfit has to make a big offer if they are serious about acquiring his services on the cheap next year.
Is Okoli A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Ange Postecoglu?
Okoli is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to make some timely interceptions for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.
The Italian sensation can even play his way out from the back and can use his powerful 1.91m to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He has proven himself to be a consistent defender in the Premier League this season, so Spurs would be wise to bring him on board in 2025.
We can expect Okoli to add more bite and steel to Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglu’s defence. He has what it takes to secure a regular starting place at the North London club in the coming years.
At 23, the future looks quite promising for the Italian talent as long as he continues to improve with each season. Thus, Okoli would be a decent option for Tottenham to consider when the transfer window commences at the start of January or at the end of this campaign.
