In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke stated that Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund talent Jamie Gittens. It has been claimed that Spurs are monitoring the progress of the English wide player but are facing competition from Liverpool and Chelsea in pursuit of him.
Gittens’ Impressive Run Of Form In The Bundesliga
The 20-year-old has been in fine form for the German club during this campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. Gittens has banged in four goals and secured two assists in nine matches for Borussia Dortmund this season across all competitions.
The London-born talent has caught the eye with his performances in Europe as he is averaging 1.5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in the UEFA Champions League. He was even accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates based on his pass completion rate of 84.4% in European football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the German club will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for Spurs to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.
Will Gittens Be A Decent Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?
Gittens can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the flanks.
The English sensation mainly operates as a left-winger but can also function as a right-sided wide player if needed. However, he might need some time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Tottenham manage to bring him on board next year.
Gittens would no doubt inject more firepower into Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglu’s attack. He is good enough to fight for regular first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
At 20, the future looks quite bright for Gittens as long as he continues to improve with each year. With all things considered, he would be a great choice for the North London club to pursue in 2025.
