In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are facing tough competition for Lecce winger Patrick Dorgu. It has been revealed that Spurs would have to rival AC Milan, Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to land the Danish wide player next year.
Dorgu’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season
Dorgu has made a slow start to this campaign but has managed to put in a few eye-catching displays for Lecce recently. The Danish talent has featured in seven matches for the Italian club this season, scoring one goal on all fronts.
The 19-year-old has proven his worth in the final third by averaging 2.4 shots and 1.0 key passes per 90 minutes in Serie A. He was even been tidy when distributing the ball in the opposition half after completing 78.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for Spurs to sign him on the cheap next year.
Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Tough Competition For Dorgu: Is He Worth The Fight?
Dorgu can engineer some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third. However, the Danish sensation has to find a way to make more runs in and around the opponent’s penalty area.
Dorgu is primarily a left-winger but can also operate as a left-back if asked to do so. However, he would need some time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to win the race for his services this January or at the end of this campaign.
We can expect Dorgu to add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglu’s attack. He is good enough to serve as a decent, rotational piece in the North London club‘s squad in the coming years.
At 19, Dorgu has the potential to be a future star in European football as long as he continues to develop with each season. Therefore, he would be well worth the fight, so Spurs should consider stepping up their efforts to land him next year.
