In a recent report, journalists Dean Jones and Will Lancaster stated that Tottenham Hotspur are facing stiff competition for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo. It has been claimed that Spurs would have to rival Liverpool, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Celtic in the race to land the Ghanaian wide player next year.
Semenyo’s Impressive Start To This Premier League Season
Semenyo has made an excellent start to this Premier League campaign as he has been responsible for putting in a run of impressive displays for the Cherries in the final third. The 24-year-old has scored three times and secured one assist in eight matches for Bournemouth this season across all competitions.
The London-born talent has been a decent performer in the opponent’s half based on his average of 4.4 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball on the offensive end of the pitch, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 74.7% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Vitality Stadium will expire in the summer of 2029. Hence, it won’t be easy for Spurs to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Is Semenyo A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Ange Postecoglu?
Semenyo is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the right flank.
The Ghanaian sensation is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if told to do so. We can expect him to bring more firepower to Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglu’s attack.
Semenyo has what it takes to nail down a regular starting spot at the North London club. Therefore, it makes sense for Spurs to move in for him this winter or at the end of this campaign. Semenyo could even help Tottenham compete for a top-four spot in the Premier League. All in all, he would be a good choice for Spurs to consider next year.
