In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid have set their sights on Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the Dutch centre-back to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next year.
Van de Ven’s Impressive Run Of Form In North London
Van de Ven has made a decent start to this campaign after he put in a few of impressive displays for the North London club on the defensive end of the field. The 23-year-old has made seven appearances for Spurs this season, picking up a couple of assists in all competitions.
The Dutch talent has been a rock at the back as he is averaging 0.7 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 2.7 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession from inside his half based on his pass success rate of 93.7% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the London club will run out in the summer of 2029 which could make it difficult for Real Madrid to get a deal done for him on the cheap next year.
Is Van De Ven A Good Choice For Real Madrid?
Van de Ven is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can make a few driving runs with the ball from the back.
Standing at 1.93m, the Dutch defensive ace can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. He is also proficient at playing his way out from inside his half. Van de Ven is primarily a centre-back but can also serve as a left-back if needed.
We can expect him to bring more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club in the coming seasons. At 23, the future looks quite bright for Van de Ven. Thus, he would be an excellent choice for Los Blancos to pursue in the long run.
