In a recent print edition, Marca (via Sport Witness) revealed that Real Madrid are planning to land Liverpool talent Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are hoping to lure the English right-back to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season.
Alexander-Arnold’s Impressive Start To This Premier League Campaign
The 26-year-old has put in a few impressive displays on the right side of Arne Slot’s defence during this campaign. Alexander-Arnold has picked up a couple of assists in nine appearances for the Reds this season on all fronts.
The England international has been a decent performer at both ends of the field based on his average of 2.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 1.1 shots, 2.3 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in the Premier League. However, he has been a bit untidy when distributing the ball from the right flank based on his pass completion rate of 73.9% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Real Madrid could potentially sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Is Alexander-Arnold A Dream Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Alexander-Arnold is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to make the odd interception for his team. He usually clears his lines when required but can sometimes be caught out of position when defending inside his half.
The English sensation is a pure striker of the ball and generates a lot of venom with his shot attempts from long range. He has also got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
Alexander-Arnold would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s first XI. He would be a significant upgrade over Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez at the Madrid club.
At 26, Alexander-Arnold has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a dream option for Los Blancos to consider next summer. He might even help Real Madrid challenge for a lot of major honours over the next few seasons. However, only time will tell whether the England international can make a smooth transition to life in Spain.
