In a recent report, The Independent claimed that Real Madrid are open to launching a move for Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong. It has been mentioned that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the English talent this January.
Acheampong’s Impressive Rise At Chelsea
Acheampong has come through the youth ranks of Chelsea and did well to break into their first team last season. The English right-back has made two senior appearances for the Blues so far on all fronts.
The 18-year-old has caught the eye at times with his performances in the youth levels of English football. He is currently amongst the best young full-backs in the country. Thus, Los Blancos would do well to get him on board this winter.
Acheampong is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2026 which could make it tough for Real Madrid to sign him on the cheap in the January transfer window.
Is Acheampong A Decent Fit For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Acheampong is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can play his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.85m, the English talent is also a strong presence in the air. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to adjust to life in Spain if Real Madrid manage to bring him on board in the winter transfer window.
At 18, Acheampong has the potential to be a future star in European football as long as he continues to improve with each year. Thus, he would be a great fit for Los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s needs in the long run.
Acheampong is already good enough to serve as a decent, rotational piece in Real Madrid‘s match-day squad. Furthermore, he would be an ideal, long-term successor to Dani Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Therefore, Ancelotti should focus on going all out to get a deal done for Acheampong when the transfer window reopens this January.
