In a recent report, Marca stated that Real Madrid are hoping to land Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies next year. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Canadian talent when he becomes a free agent next summer.
Davies’ Impressive Form In German Football
Davies has made a solid start to this campaign as he has put in a few impressive displays on the left side of their defence. The 23-year-old has picked up one assist in eight matches for the Bavarian club this season on all fronts.
The 23-year-old has been a good performer at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.0 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has even been excellent when distributing the ball from the back after making 90.7% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Bavarian club will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Los Blancos could try to sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Is Davies A Good Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. The Canada international can strike the ball with venom from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes from the left flank.
Davies would no doubt add more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He is good enough to nail down a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming seasons.
At 23, Davies has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good option for the Madrid outfit to consider next year. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to bring him on board.
