Arsenal will face off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park this Saturday afternoon as they hope to secure a positive result on the road in the Premier League. The Gunners managed to earn an impressive 3-0 win over Preston North End in the EFL Cup recently which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this clash.
Mikel Arteta will set his players up in a 4-4-2 formation and is expected to make a lot of changes to his starting XI for this game. David Raya, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice could play from the start of this contest.
4-4-2 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
David Raya will feature in between the sticks for the Gunners after he was rested in midweek. Gabriel is a slight concern ahead of this game but should be ready to operate alongside Ben White at the centre of the Arsenal backline as they try to keep the Newcastle attackers frustrated during the 90 minutes.
Thomas Partey will get the nod to play as the right-back while Jakub Kiwior hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
William Saliba could be rested on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-back positions.
Midfield
Mikel Merino will anchor the midfield alongside Declan Rice as they focus on establishing their superiority over the opposition in the middle of the park. Gabriel Martinelli will try to prove his worth on the left flank while Bukayo Saka looks to weave his magic from the right wing. Both of them would look to stretch the Newcastle defence at every chance they get.
Ethan Nwaneri, Jorginho and Mikel Merino will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if Arteta opts to call upon their services.
Attack
Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz will lead the charge for the North London club in the final third. Both of them need to find a way to cause a lot of headaches for the opposition centre-backs during the 90 minutes.
Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling will be named on the bench as they await their chance to make an impact in the latter stages if needed.
