In a recent report, O Jogo revealed that Newcastle United are locked in a three-way battle for Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenon. It has been stated that the Magpies would have to rival Benfica and Real Madrid in pursuit of the Argentine wide player next year.
Zenon’s Impressive Form In Argentine Football
Zenon has enjoyed a decent rise at the Argentine club as he has put in a handful of impressive displays for them on the left wing. The 23-year-old has found the back of the net four times and secured seven assists in 37 appearances for Boca Juniors so far in multiple competitions.
The Goya-born talent was a decent contributor in the final third based on his average of 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Argentine top tier. However, he needs to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half after completing 69.4% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Argentine club will expire at the end of 2028 which could make it tough for Newcastle to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Will Zenon Be A Good Option For Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe?
Zenon can make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the flanks and has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can chip in by scoring some important goals for his team.
However, the Argentine talent has to find a way to improve his ball distribution in the opponent’s half. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Magpies manage to snap him up next year.
Zenon would inject more quality into Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at St. James’ Park. At 23, Zenon has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Tyneside club to consider in 2025. However, Howe needs to be patient before he can get the best out of him at the English club.
