In a recent report, Pasion Futbol claimed that Newcastle United are facing stiff competition for Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenon. It has been mentioned that the Magpies would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Hove Albion, Lyon, FC Porto and Napoli in the race to land the Argentine wide player.
Zenon’s Good Run Of Form In Argentine Football
Zenon enjoyed a decent campaign with Boca Juniors recently as he managed to put in a series of impressive displays on the left side of their midfield. The 23-year-old has scored four goals and earned seven assists in 38 appearances for the Argentine outfit thus far across all competitions.
The Argentine talent has been a good contributor at both ends of the pitch and deserves credit for averaging 1.0 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per game in the Argentine first division. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the final third after making 69.4% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Zenon is under contract at Boca Juniors until the end of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Magpies to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Go For Zenon?
Zenon usually works hard for his team defensively and can make some driving runs with the ball on the left flank. He has got the vision to create a few decent chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field and can strike the ball with venom from long range.
However, the Argentine wing wizard might need some time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Newcastle manage to snap him up in 2025.
At 23, Zenon has his best years ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Magpies to consider this January or next summer. He would add more quality and depth to Eddie Howe’s attack.
At the very least, Zenon could help the Tyneside club compete across all fronts in the coming years. Therefore, Howe should focus on going for a player of his skill set as he could grow into a future star at St. James’ Park.
