Everton will lock horns with Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium this Saturday afternoon as they try to secure a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Toffees were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham last weekend, so they would be eager to return to winning ways against the Saints.
Sean Dyche will set his side up in a 4-4-1-1 formation and is expected to make one tweak to his first team for this game. Orel Mangala could get a chance to play from the start of this contest in the injury absence of Dwight McNeil.
4-4-1-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Jordan Pickford will function in between the sticks for the Toffees after conceding one goal in his last league appearance. Michael Keane will resume his partnership with James Tarkowski at the centre of the Everton backline as they hope to keep things solid at the back throughout the game.
Ashley Young will fill in as the right-back while Vitaliy Mykolenko looks to give a good account of himself on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Jarrad Branthwaite will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Orel Mangala and Idrissa Gueye will operate as the holding midfielders for the Toffees as they try to make life tough for the home team at the centre of the park. Ilman Ndiaye will keep his place on the left flank while Jack Harrison hopes to shine as the right-sided wide player.
Abdoulaye Doucoure could be asked to play in the number ten position as Dwight McNeil is unlikely to recover in time for this game.
Harrison Armstrong will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the charge for the Merseyside club in the final third. He has to find a way to be a real threat in and around the Southampton penalty area this Saturday afternoon.
Beto will have to be content with a place on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the final quarter if required.
