According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have enquired about Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as the Premier League club are interested in bringing him to Old Trafford to replace Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag has little time to prove himself
Erik ten Hag‘s future has been the talk of the town in recent weeks. After a busy summer window, there were a lot of expectations from his side in the ongoing campaign. However, Manchester United are off to one of their slowest starts and things aren’t looking well for them.
The Red Devils have shown no signs of improvement from last season and they might even fail to secure a position for the Europa League. The upcoming games are crucial as far as ten Hag’s future as their manager is concerned.
If the Dutch manager’s side fail to bounce back in the domestic league, the power holders at the club wouldn’t mind sacking him. For now, the management wants to keep their options open and could wait patiently as they don’t want to create panic.
Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP are atop
Manchester United are seriously considering having Ruben Amorim as their new manager. Though he cannot join them midseason as he is leading Sporting CP, the club will have a fair chance of getting him next summer.
Amorim has done well with the Portuguese side, having led them to two league titles and three other trophies. His impressive numbers as a manager have made him an attractive choice for the Red Devils.
From the Portuguese mastermind’s point of view, moving to the Premier League would be an exciting opportunity. Managing a historic and top-tier club like Manchester United would be a great chance to compete with some greatest managers in the business. However, it will be interesting to see how Erik ten Hag does with his side in the coming weeks.
