According to Sudwest, Manchester United are closely monitoring VfB Stuttgart attacker Jamie Leweling. The Premier League club would make an attempt to sign him in the upcoming transfer windows only if they are convinced enough with the player’s performance this season.
Jamie Leweling is an exciting talent
Jamie Leweling came as a loanee at VfB Stuttgart last year but the move was made permanent before this season kicked off. While it’s still an early stage to evaluate his qualities, one thing is sure the player surely has immense potential.
Leweling had four goals and seven assists under his hat in 38 games last season. He averaged 1.3 shots, 0.7 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He would be hoping to do even better in the ongoing campaign.
The German attacker is effective with both feet, which also allows him to operate effectively on both flanks. He has excellent control over the ball and creates good threats going forward. With accurate shooting range and crossing abilities, he is a talent to watch out for.
This season is important for Jamie Leweling
Manchester United’s interest in Jamie Leweling is understandable as they still lack quality in wide areas. The likes of Amad Diallo and Antony haven’t delivered up to the standards. Hence, the club are forced to reconsider their attacking unit.
While Leweling seems like an exciting talent, he has yet to prove himself at the highest level. It’s still an early stage to trust him for the important roles at Old Trafford. He has a lot of areas to improve in, though he has enough time to do so.
The Red Devils should be waiting until the end of this season to reevaluate the 23-year-old. If he manages to pull off a good season, they can go after him. Otherwise, it could be yet another failed signing for Manchester United.
