Manchester United Keen On Signing This Lille Starlet: Should They Sign Him?

According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United are impressed with LOSC Lille youngster Tiago Santos’ progress. The Premier League club are even interested in acquiring his services in the next summer transfer window if possible.

Who is Tiago Santos?

Tiago Santos was part of Sporting CP Academy before he moved to Estoril and established himself as a potential talent. Last summer, he moved to Lille, which has helped him take his career to a whole new level and attract more eyeballs.

Santos was brilliant last season and emerged as a regular feature in the Lille lineup. He netted three goals and provided two assists in 43 games. His impressive displays at the club level also helped him get his maiden call-up for the national side.

The Portuguese plays as a right-back and is extremely good at tackling and blocking the shots. He is comfortable on the ball and links up well on the right-hand side. He can also make good runs in space but needs to improve his aerial presence.

Tiago Santos could be a tough signing to execute

Manchester United’s interest in Tiago Santos is a little surprising considering they already signed Noussair Mazraoui in the summer. Now that they are looking to add more quality at the right-back position, the choice isn’t bad either.

Santos has been improving visibly and also proving his talent. He has the qualities to transform into an elite player should he continue his developing phase. However, his contract runs until 2028, which means the French side will surely demand a good fee to sanction the move.

On top of this, the Red Devils might hesitate to match his £12,000-a-week salary even if he can justify the price in the years to come. Apart from Manchester United, Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the youngster.
