Manchester United have joined the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush, as reported by Caught Offside. However, the Premier League club will face stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
Omar Marmoush is one of the best Bundesliga strikers at present
Omar Marmoush has been on an impressive run since joining Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. He has emerged as a mainstay in the lineup and one of the best strikers in the league. This has obviously attracted a lot of attention for him.
Marmoush netted 17 goals and provided six assists in 41 games last season. He averaged 2.7 shots, 1.4 key passes, and 1.3 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Egyptian striker is versatile enough to adapt to different styles of play. He is a good carrier of the ball and doesn’t shy away from taking a shot whenever there is space. Once he improves his ball-holding and link-up plays, he will become more lethal for the team.
Signing another striker makes no sense
While Liverpool and Arsenal’s interest in Omar Marmoush is understandable, the same doesn’t fit well in Manchester United’s case. They had Rasmus Højlund at their disposal already and then went on to sign Joshua Zirkzee in the summer.
So the Red Devils have two quality strikers in their squad at present. Hence, it becomes unclear why they want to sign another striker and where they will fit him if purchased. Manchester United should only go after Omar Marmoush if one of their strikers departs. Otherwise, it would be wise to invest in other departments of the team, especially the midfield.
Talking about their current performance, Erik ten Hag‘s side are struggling to find rhythm this season. Though they settled for a goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break, the Dutch manager’s job is still at stake.
