According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are one of the contenders who are keeping an eye on Mile Svilar. There is a high possibility of the Red Devils going after the goalkeeper in the 2025 summer transfer window.
Who is Mile Svilar?
Mile Svilar arrived at AS Roma from Benfica in the summer of 2022. Though he hasn’t been the primary goalkeeper, he has been impressive whenever he took onto the field. He has high qualities and a Premier League move could be on the cards.
Svilar got to feature in 30 games last season in which he managed to keep 10 clean sheets. In the process, he leaked 32 goals.
The Serbian goalkeeper has quick reflexes and strong hands to save shots from all the ranges. He is also good enough to keep a good penalty-saving record. However, he takes too much risk at times and needs to improve his passing accuracy.
A replacement for Altay Bayindir?
Manchester United have Andre Onana as their first-choice goalkeeper and he is likely to remain so. He has picked up form in recent weeks after a dull start at his new home. So the only position where a change can be anticipated is the backup option.
Altay Bayindir, who arrived from Fenerbahce last year, hasn’t got to feature much. There are also reports of him leaving the club in the near future. Hence, the Red Devils might want to bring Mile Svilar to replace the Turkish shot-stopper.
Talking about Svilar, the goalkeeper has high shot-stopping qualities. His temperament is also at the level that one may require to represent a top-tier club like Manchester United. Once the 25-year-old improves his distribution skills, he could be a good long-term investment.
AC Milan are reportedly ready to part ways with Svilar for a deal worth €40 million, which the English giants can surely match.
