As per Fichajes, Premier League club Manchester United have identified Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as a viable target for the managerial role should they sack Erik Ten Hag after delivering a disastrous start to the new season.
Erik ten Hag is doing no good at Old Trafford
Despite showing confidence and backing Erik ten Hag with massive signings in the summer, Manchester United have got a bad take-off in the new season. They have managed to accumulate only eight points in the Premier League in seven games so far.
The Red Devils are hovering around the below half on the points table. If they fail to change things around in the coming weeks, they will surely fail to earn a Champions League berth for next season.
Ruben Amorim is capable but inexperienced
Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United remains highly uncertain. Many speculated that he would be sacked before the international break if his side tied or lost against Tottenham Hotspur. However, despite sharing the points against Spurs, the management hasn’t sacked him yet.
While it’s tough to guess what’s going on behind the scenes, the current situation indicates that the Red Devils are likely to persist with him for now. However, in the meantime, the club are also exploring options in the market to replace the Dutch manager.
One of the names that has emerged recently is Ruben Amorim. The Sporting CP manager has done well in his short managerial career so far. He has led the Portuguese side to two league titles and transformed their displays on the field.
Managing Manchester United could be an exciting opportunity for Amorim. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world with plenty of resources. He will have access to some world-class players and an excellent opportunity to lift big titles. However, it remains to be seen if the 39-year-old will accept the offer if received or not.
