According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United recently held talks with former Barcelona manager Xavi. The Premier League club are eyeing him as a potential target to replace Erik ten Hag if they sack him in the upcoming weeks.
Erik ten Hag has little time to turn things around
Erik ten Hag‘s future as the manager at Old Trafford continues to remain under dark clouds. His side hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations in recent times and the majority of the blame goes to the manager without saying.
Manchester United backed the Dutch manager despite returning below par performances last season. The club also supported him with all the necessary signings in the summer. However, he has failed to return the dividends this season so far.
Though the Red Devils are showing persistance with ten Hag, a few more disastrous displays might break the patience level. Hence, media continues to cover the situation extensively as a lot of drama is about to take place.
Will Xavi entertain Manchester United’s approach?
Manchester United are already exploring options in the market to prepare if Erik ten Hag has to be sacked. While they have been linked to multiple notable managers in recent months, Xavi is the latest entry on the list.
Despite having little experience of coaching in Europe, the Spanish mastermind did well during his stint at Barcelona. He led the club to a La Liga title victory when only a few people were optimistic amid the turmoil at the club.
Xavi’s play style and man-managing skills could be useful for Manchester United. However, his negligible coaching experience might be a hindrance in putting faith in him. It will be interesting to see if the 44-year-old will accept the proposal or not.
