According to Football Insider, Manchester City are interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk’s Georgiy Sudakov next summer. The Premier League club believe he could be a potential name to replace Kevin de Bruyne in the long run.
Georgiy Sudakov is shining bright
Georgiy Sudakov came through the ranks of Shakhtar Donetsk Academy. He made his senior team debut in 2020 against Real Madrid and has taken huge strides since then. He has established himself as one of the mainstays in the lineup.
Sudakov netted 10 goals and provided six assists in 34 games last season. Not only at the club level, he has also been proving his name on the international stage for the Ukranian side.
The Ukranian midfielder is versatile to don different roles in the attacking front. He is technically sound and provides a balance between attack and defence. He is very skilful on the ball, contributing directly to the goal creation.
A replacement for Kevin de Bruyne?
Kevin de Bruyne‘s time at Manchester City is coming to an end soon. The Belgian is in the twilight of his career and his contract runs out at the end of the season. Though he might sign an extension, the heating interest from Saudi can change his mind at times.
Hence, the Citizens must remain prepared to deal with the situation. Though they might prefer bringing a notable name to replace de Bruyne, Georgiy Sudakov could be a great alternative. Considering his qualities and capabilities, he has the potential to fill his shoes in the long run.
The 22-year-old has already settled himself at both the level and the international level. He is going to get better and better with experience. He can be a valuable pick for Manchester City if they are able to get his signature ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool.
