According to Fichajes, Manchester City are considering signing their former player Cole Palmer from Chelsea next summer. The former club see him as a replacement for Kevin de Bruyne and they are even ready to offer €150m to get him back.
Cole Palmer is running the show for Chelsea
Cole Palmer came through the ranks of Manchester City Academy and made his senior team debut in 2020. While he showed promising signs in their initial days, his game-time was restricted due to the presence of multiple stars in the squad. Moreover, the rise of Phil Foden made things even worse for him.
Hence, Palmer moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2023, which has been a turning point of his career. In his debut season at Stamford Bridge, he took everyone by surprise by netting 27 goals and providing 15 assists in just 48 games.
The English international is versatile to play in multiple positions in the midfield. However, he is better known for his offensive traits and sensing goals in the final third. He is technically sound, skillful on the ball, and possesses calmness under pressure situations.
Chelsea won’t let Cole Palmer leave easily
Manchester City sold Cole Palmer for £40m to Chelsea, which made sense at that time. But Palmer’s rise has been extraordinary and no one could’ve guessed it well. Moreover, his continued red-hot form indicates that he is here to stay for long.
The Citizens are already exploring options in the market to replace Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder is in the final stages of his career and his future remains uncertain. The English giant believe Palmer has the potential to fill his shoes in the long run.
Hence, Manchester City are willing to offer €150 million to bring the 22-year-old back home. However, it will be interesting to see how Chelsea will approach this chapter and what will be the position of Palmer in this case.
