According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool are keeping tabs on AFC Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. They are impressed with the youngster’s abilities and might even fancy a move to bring him to Anfield in the next summer transfer window.
Antoine Semenyo is a dangerous attacker
Antoine Semenyo signed for AFC Bournemouth last summer and has been impressive so far. He has established himself as an integral part of the squad, keeping a spot in the starting XI. His commendable displays have attracted eyes from major clubs as well.
Semenyo had eight goals and two assists in 36 games last season. He averaged 2.1 shots, 0.9 key passes, and 1.5 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Ghana forward primarily plays on the right wing but can also operate on the left if required. He is an excellent carrier of the ball, accompanied well by crazy ball control. With clinical finishing and dominance in aerial duels, he is a treat to watch.
A future replacement for Mohamed Salah?
Liverpool’s interest seems logical as they have already started preparing for life without Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is on the wrong side of 30 and his contract runs out at the end of the season. Though he might extend his stay at Anfield for some more time, the club still needs to prepare a replacement.
In that aspect, Antoine Semenyo could be a fitting name. Though the attacker doesn’t have enough direct contributions, he certainly has the qualities to succeed for a big club. His explosive pace, and directness while attacking would suit well in Arne Slot‘s system.
The 24-year-old is bound to improve with time and experience. He could be a good long-term investment for the Reds. However, a lot will depend upon Semenyo’s performance in the ongoing campaign. If he manages to deliver an ideal season, Liverpool will be tempted to go after him next summer.
