As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are impressed with Deportivo Alaves attacker Carlos Vicente’s progress. The Premier League club could make an attempt to sign the player if they feel the need to invest in him.
Carlos Vicente has settled well in La Liga
Carlos Vicente joined Deportivo Alaves in December last year after representing a series of clubs in his career. His move to La Liga helped him unleash a new version of himself. He has been a solid performer and become a mainstay in the lineup.
Vicente netted six goals and provided eight assists in 42 games last season. He averaged 0.8 shots, 1.8 key passes, and 0.8 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He has kicked off this season on a good note and it will be interesting to see how it goes forward.
The Spanish attacker features on the right wing but can also play as a centre-back. He is good at providing key passes, taking set-pieces, and sending crosses into the box. He is also physicality strong but needs to work on his ball retention.
Carlos Vicente would be delighted to join Liverpool
Liverpool have already started preparing for life without Mohamed Salah, who is in the twilight of his career. His contract runs out at the end of this season and if he departs, the club will have to bring a notable name to deploy on the right wing.
Though Carlos Vicente isn’t an ideal replacement, he can be a point of investment for the Reds. He could be a good option to have in the squad as his physicality and offensive plays will be well suited in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has a €20 million release clause but Liverpool can get him at a lower cost through negotiations. It won’t be too tough for them to get his signature and it depends upon them if they want to bring him to Anfield or not.
