According to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, Premier League club Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Sevilla’s Loic Bade. The agreement will see the defender moving to Anfield in the January window for a reported fee of €25m.
The Rise of Loic Bade
Loic Bade arrived at Sevilla in the January window last year from Nottingham Forest. Since his arrival in La Liga, he has been a solid performer and emerged as an exciting talent. Despite the team’s poor performance, he did well on an individual level.
Bade featured in 33 games last season and had one assist to his name. He featured 2.3 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, and 4 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The French centre-back is technically sound, physically strong, and a good reader of the game. He can intercept the threats well and also puts in timely tackles. He also makes important blocks and clearances and does well against dribblers.
Loic Bade can be a good addition
Loic Bade is one of the names Liverpool want to sign to reinforce their defensive unit. As Virgil van Dijk is in the final stage of his career, he needs to be replaced soon. The club cannot keep counting on the Dutch defender forever.
While there are doubts about whether Bade would be an apt replacement for van Dijk or not, he has certainly got the qualities to do the difficult job. His defensive traits are good enough to keep up in the Premier League. His prior experience in the English league will help him settle in little time.
If reports are to be believed, getting a potential star for €25m is a sort of a bargain deal for Liverpool. It will be interesting to see how this chapter unfolds in the coming weeks. Despite this deal, expect the English giant to go after more notable names in the near future.
