According to Fichajes, Liverpool are impressed with Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera’s progress. The Premier League club could be making a move to sign the youngster in the upcoming transfer windows if they feel the need to do so.
Who is Cristhian Mosquera?
Cristhian Mosquera has been associated with Valencia since he was 12. His impressive performances and huge potential helped him climb up the ladder pretty quickly. He made his senior team debut in 2022 and became a mainstay recently.
Mosquera, who was featured in 38 games last season, has already been featured in nine outings in the ongoing campaign. It’s safe to say that he has cemented a spot for himself in the starting XI.
The Spanish centre-back is versatile to play even as a full-back on either side. He is physically strong, fast, and an excellent reader of the game. He is also comfortable on the ball and can even dribble his way out in tight spaces at times.
Cristhian Mosquera can be an additional resource
With Virgil van Dijk being on the wrong side of 30 and in the final year of his current contract, it’s natural for Liverpool to search for replacements in the market. Even if the Dutch defender extends his stay at Anfield, the club will have to start finding fills.
Hence, the interest in Cristhian Mosquera shouldn’t surprise everyone. Though the youngster cannot be a direct replacement for van Dijk, he could be a long-term investment for the Reds. As he gets more opportunities and gains experience, he can transform into a force to reckon with.
However, a lot will depend on how the 20-year-old plays this season. Liverpool are also linked with some notable names like Marc Guehi. It will be interesting to see how the English giant plays out their cards in the upcoming transfer windows.
