Newcastle United will clash heads with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Sunday afternoon as they look to secure a win on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a tough 1-0 loss against Brighton and Hove Albion recently, so they would be eager to bounce back by collecting maximum points from this game.
Eddie Howe will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Thus, Alexander Isak will once again lead the line for the Tyneside club in the final third.
4-3-3 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Nick Pope will play in between the sticks for the Magpies after he conceded one goal in his last league outing. Fabian Schar will continue to play alongside Dan Burn at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they focus on keeping the opposition attackers quiet during the game.
Tino Livramento will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Lewis Hall hopes to impress on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to keep things solid defensively before trying to offer some decent service to the front players.
Emil Krafth will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali will make up Howe’s midfield as they try to put in a good performance collectively in the middle of the park. All three of them need to retain possession well if Newcastle are to pose a threat on the counter.
Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff will make up the numbers on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Anthony Gordon will hope to make a difference on the left flank while Jacob Murphy gets another chance to impress as the right-sided wide player. Alexander Isak will spearhead Howe’s attack down the middle. He would be eager to find the back of the net after failing to do so against the Seagulls last weekend.
William Osula will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if required.
