Manchester City will face off against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Wednesday night as they hope to secure a victory on their travels in the EFL Cup. The Mancunian club managed to earn a narrow 1-0 win over Southampton last weekend which should keep them in high spirits going into this cup game.
Pep Guardiola will set his players up in a 4-1-4-1 formation and is expected to make a lot of tweaks to his starting XI for this clash. Ilkay Gundogan, Nathan Ake and James McAtee could play from the start of this game.
4-1-4-1 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Stefan Ortega will play in between the sticks for the Mancunian giants as he looks to keep things tidy defensively in this midweek clash in North London. John Stones will operate alongside Kaden Braithwaite at the centre of the Man City backline as they look to keep the Tottenham attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.
Nathan Ake will try to catch the eye as the left-back while Rico Lewis hopes to put in a good performance on the other side as the right-back. Guardiola will allow both of them to pick and choose their moments to get forward and join in on the attack.
Ruben Dias will be rested on the bench as he provides cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan will anchor the midfield for Man City as he looks to distribute possession well and offer some decent protection for his teammates at the back. James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly will play as the box-to-box midfielders for the visitors. Both of them would be responsible for creating some inviting chances in the final third.
Matheus Nunes will get a chance to shine as the left-sided wide player once again while Savio looks to weave his magic from the right flank.
Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if needed.
Attack
Phil Foden will lead the charge for the Mancunian outfit up top. He would be eager to find the back of the net against Tottenham after failing to do so versus the Saints last weekend.
Erling Haaland would get a well-deserved rest on the bench.
