In a recent report, Fotomac stated that Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is generating interest from Turkey. It is believed that Fenerbahce are looking to sign the English striker from the Toffees in the January transfer period.
Calvert-Lewin’s Good Run Of Form In The Premier League
The 27-year-old has made a decent start to this campaign as he has put in a few fruitful displays for the Merseyside club in the final third. Calvert-Lewin has participated in seven matches for Everton this season, scoring two goals and grabbing one assist across multiple competitions.
The Sheffield-born talent has proven his worth at times in the opponent’s half by averaging 2.1 shots and 0.3 key passes per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball on the offensive third of the pitch after completing just 60.2% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Merseyside club will run out at the end of this campaign. Thus, it is only logical for the Toffees to try and cash in on him in this January transfer window or else risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Can Everton Boss Sean Dyche Afford To Lose Calvert-Lewin?
Calvert-Lewin is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and can use his strong 1.89m frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team.
However, the English forward has to find a way to improve his link-up play on the offensive end of the field. Furthermore, he has been far from a consistent performer at Goodison Park thus far.
At the moment, Calvert-Lewin is on an expiring contract, so Everton boss Sean Dyche would have no choice but to let him leave if the Toffees receive a favourable offer for him when the transfer commences at the start of next year.
At 27, Calvert-Lewin is about to enter his prime, so the Merseyside club simply cannot afford to lose a striker of his quality and experience unless they can bring in a suitable replacement this January.
