In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus revealed that Everton are among the clubs hoping to recruit Santos full-back JP Chermont. It has been mentioned that the Toffees are facing competition in the form of Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton, and Chelsea in pursuit of the Brazilian talent next year.
Chermont’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of Santos and has done well to break out as a first-team starter for them recently. Chermont has registered two goals and secured three assists in 24 matches for the Brazilian club in the Serie B.
The Brazilian talent has caught the eye at times with his performances on the right side of their backline. He is currently one of the best young players in Brazilian football which makes him a worthy target for the Toffees to pursue next year.
His current contract at the Brazilian club will run out at the end of 2027. Hence, Everton would have to make a big offer if they want to bring him to Merseyside next year.
Is Chermont A Good Option For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Chermont is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when needed and can make some good runs with the ball on the right flank.
The Brazilian talent usually generates some power with his shot attempts and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He is primarily a right-back but can also serve as a right-sided wide player if needed.
Chermont would no doubt enhance the quality of Everton boss Sean Dyche’s defensive department. At 18, he has the potential to be a future star at the highest level. Therefore, it makes sense for the Toffees to move in for the Brazilian full-back next year.
Chermont is already good enough to compete for a regular first-team place at the Merseyside club. Plus, he would have a great resale value in the future Thus, it is only logical for Everton to try and sign the talented starlet as he would be a great option for them in the long run.
