In a recent tweet, journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed that Everton are among the clubs hoping to land Red Star Belgrade winger Silas Katompa Mvumpa, who is currently playing on loan from VfB Stuttgart. It has been stated that the Toffees would have to rival Villarreal in the race to sign the Congolese wide player.
Silas’ Impressive Loan Spell In Serbia
Silas has caught the eye with his performances while on loan at Red Star Belgrade this season as he put in a few impressive displays for them in the final third. The 26-year-old has scored two goals in five matches for the Serbian giants so far on all fronts.
The Congolese wing wizard has proven his worth in Europe based on his average of 1.0 shots, 0.5 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the UEFA Champions League. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from the right flank after completing 83.3% of his attempted passes in European football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at his parent club Stuttgart will expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, the Toffees could potentially land him on a cut-price deal next year.
Is Silas A Good Option For Everton Boss Sean Dyche?
Silas is a good dribbler with the ball and can make some driving runs with the ball out on the flanks. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive third of the pitch. However, the Congolese talent is still unproven at the highest level and would need time to adjust to life in the Premier League if the Toffees manage to get him on board in the future.
Silas would undoubtedly add more quality to Everton boss Sean Dyche’s attack. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Goodison Park in the coming seasons. Thus, the Merseyside club would be wise to move in for him at the end of this campaign.
At 26, Silas is about to enter his prime which makes him a decent option for the Toffees to consider next summer but only if they can sign him on the cheap. Otherwise, Everton might be better off going for someone with more experience at the highest level.
