According to Fichajes, Chelsea have joined the race to sign Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane in the summer next year. However, they are set to face neck-to-neck competition from the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Leroy Sane rejuvenated at Bayern Munich
Leroy Sane came into the limelight during his successful stint at Manchester City. He was a regular feature on the team sheet but his role saw a diminishing curve due to hit in form and recurring injuries. Ultimately, he went on to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020.
The move somewhat helped Sane return to his old version. Talking about the previous season, he netted 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 42 games. He averaged 2.7 shots, 2.7 key passes, and 3.4 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The German right-winger likes to cut in toward the goal to create threats. He has raw pace, and excellent dribbling and shooting skills. He exploits the spaces well and also tracks back to help his side in the defensive aspects of the game.
Leroy Sane can come for free
Chelsea already addressed their frontline with the arrivals of Jadon Sancho, Joao Felix, and Pedro Neto in the summer. However, they are looking to bolster it further as Enzo Maresca looks to build a winning team.
The Blues are considering offloading Mykhailo Mudryk and might replace him with Leroy Sane next summer. The deal would make sense the latter has prior Premier League experience and his qualities will add a lot of value in the final third.
Sane’s contract at Bayern Munich runs out at the end of the season and there is no optimism about an extension. Chelsea can take advantage of the situation and lure him away for free next summer. However, they will surely face stiff competition from multiple European clubs.
