Chelsea Express Interest In Signing This Borussia Dortmund Star: Good Move By The Blues?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are very interested in signing Borussia Dortmund‘s Karim Adeyemi. However, the Premier League will wait for the next summer window instead of making an attempt in the January window.

Karim Adeyemi has huge potential

Karim Adeyemi is one of the most exciting wingers in the Bundesliga at present. He started off his professional career with Red Bull Salzburg and then entertained a move to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022. Over the past couple of seasons, he impressed and solidified his position in the team.

Adeyemi had five goals and two assists in 34 games last season. He averaged 1.1 shots, 0.4 key passes, and 0.9 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).

The German attacker plays as a left-winger but is well-equipped to play on the right flank or in the centre. He is known for his space and dazzling dribbles. He is always a threat on the counterattack and has grown in his decision-making on the field.

Chelsea aren’t targeting the January window

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is reportedly happy with the current squad. Hence, the club will only sign someone in the winter window whom they feel can improve the performance of the team instantly.

The Blues’ interest in Karim Adeyemi isn’t surprising considering they still need more quality in the wide areas. Adeyemi’s versatility and qualities in the final third will be extremely useful. He could be a long-term investment for the club.

However, Chelsea are unlikely to go after him in the January window. They can make a move for the 22-year-old next summer if they feel the need to do so. His signing will obviously cost a high fee as he remains a hot property for Borussia Dortmund. Apart from the Blues, several European clubs including Liverpool are serious about the youngster.
