In a recent report, Sport mentioned that Barcelona have identified Nice keeper Marcin Bulka as a target. It has been claimed that the Catalan club are showing interest in signing the Polish keeper next year.
Bulka’s Recent Form In French Football
Bulka has made a mixed start to this campaign but has put in a few impressive displays for Nice in Ligue 1. The Polish keeper has featured in eight matches for the French outfit this season, conceding 11 goals and securing a couple of clean sheets across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has done well to average 0.3 clearances and 3.7 long balls per 90 minutes in Ligue 1 football. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back after making 83.2% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the French club will expire in the summer of 2026. Thus, Barcelona could potentially sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.
Should Barcelona Boss Hansi Flick Go For Bulka?
Bulka can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing well on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves at the back for his team.
Standing at 1.99m, Bulka is a towering presence inside his penalty area and usually clears the danger when being chased down by the opposition attackers. However, he might need some time to adjust to life in La Liga if Barcelona manage to snap him up next summer.
At 25, Bulka has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Catalan club to consider in 2025. He would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Barca boss Hansi Flick’s goalkeeping department and could help the Catalan giants compete across all fronts in the future.
Furthermore, Bulka is good enough to serve as a decent understudy to Marc-Andre ter Stegen at the Nou Camp. Therefore, it makes sense for Barcelona to go for a player of his quality this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Flick has to be patient with his development before he can unlock the best out of the talented keeper at the Catalan club.
