In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that Aston Villa playmaker Jacob Ramsey is generating interest from North London. It has been claimed that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to land the English talent from the Villans next year.
Ramsey’s Impressive Form At Villa Park
Ramsey has put in a couple of impressive displays for the West Midlands club during this Premier League campaign. He has found the back of the net once and picked up one assist in ten matches for the Villans this season across various competitions.
The English talent has proven his worth in the opponent’s half and deserves a lot of credit for averaging 1.0 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 90.3% in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Villa Park will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, there is no immediate need for the Villans to cash in on him next year.
Can Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Afford To Lose Ramsey?
Ramsey can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes from the wide areas. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well. The English talent is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-winger if asked to do so by his manager. He has done well to show some glimpses of his true potential at Villa Park this season.
Ramsey remains a crucial member of Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s squad and could help the Villans compete across all fronts in the coming seasons. At 23, the Birmingham-born talent has got a bright future ahead of him, so the Villans would be wise to try and keep hold of him for the duration of his contract.
Furthermore, Unai Emery seems like the ideal man to get the best out of Ramsey at the Midlands club. Thus, Aston Villa simply cannot afford to lose him unless they receive an astronomical fee for his services.
