In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Aston Villa have set their sights on Valencia forward Hugo Duro. It has been mentioned that the Villans would face competition in the form of West Ham United in the race to land the Spanish striker next year.
Duro’s Decent Run Of Form In La Liga
The 24-year-old has produced a few eye-catching displays for Valencia on the offensive end of the field during this campaign. Duro has scored two goals in six appearances for the Spanish outfit this season in multiple competitions.
The Spanish sensation has led the line well for Valencia up top as he is averaging 2.0 shots and 0.8 key passes per game in La Liga football. However, he has taken care of the ball a bit better after completing just 73% of his attempted passes in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Mestalla Stadium will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, the Villans would have to make a big offer if they are serious about signing Duro next year.
What Will Duro Add To Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery’s Team?
Duro excels at creating some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
However, the Spanish forward is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League if Aston Villa decide to move in for him this January or next summer.
Duro would add more firepower to Unai Emery’s frontline. He is good enough to offer some healthy competition for Ollie Watkins at the West Midlands club in the coming years. At 24, Duro has got his peak years ahead of him and would be a good acquisition for the Villans to consider in 2025.
At the very least, the Spaniard could help Aston Villa challenge across all fronts over the next few years. However, Emery needs to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of him at Villa Park.
