In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Arsenal are leading the race for Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Georgiy Sudakov. It is believed that the Gunners are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the Ukrainian attacker next year.
Sudakov’s Decent Form In Ukrainian Football
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a fine run of form for Shakhtar this season after he produced a series of productive performances for them on the offensive end of the field. Sudakov has netted seven goals and picked up two assists in ten appearances for his current employers during this campaign on all fronts.
The Ukraine international has managed to shine at times with his contributions for Shakhtar in the final third and is currently amongst the best young playmakers in Ukrainian football. Thus, it is no surprise that Arsenal are in the race to land him next year.
Sudakov is under contract at the Ukrainian club until the end of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Gunners to land him on a cut-price deal in 2025.
Is Sudakov A Good Choice For Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta?
Sudakov is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it in the opposition half. He can shoot the ball well from long range and has got the vision to play a few decisive passes in the final third.
The Ukrainian talent mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-winger if required. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to snap him up next year.
Sudakov would inject more quality and depth into Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He would be an ideal understudy to Martin Odegaard at the North London club. At 22, Sudakov has the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, he would be an excellent choice for the Gunners to consider this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Arteta would have to be patient with his development before he can get the best out of the Ukraine international.
