Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke mentioned that Arsenal are keeping a keen eye on Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker Georgiy Sudakov. It has been claimed that the Gunners would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Ukrainian talent next year.
Sudakov’s Impressive Form In Ukrainian Football
Sudakov has enjoyed a good run of form this season as he has put in a series of productive performances for the Ukrainian outfit in the final third. The Ukraine international has banged in seven goals and secured two assists in ten matches for Shakhtar during this campaign in all competitions.
The 22-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for his current employers in the opposition half. He is currently amongst the best young players in Ukrainian football, so the Gunners would do well to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
Sudakov is under contract at Shakhtar until the end of 2028 which could make it difficult for Arsenal to snap him up on the cheap next year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Sudakov On Board?
Sudakov is a good dribbler with the ball and can make some driving runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field.
The Ukrainian sensation can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He mainly operates in the number ten position but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if needed. However, only time will tell whether the gifted attacker can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
We can expect Sudakov to inject more quality into Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming years.
At 22, Sudakov has the potential to be a future star in English football. Therefore, the Gunners would be wise to try everything they can to get him on board in the winter transfer period or at the end of this season.
