Aston Villa will entertain Bayern Munich at Villa Park on Wednesday night as they look to secure a positive result at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Villans were held to a 2-2 draw by Ipswich Town last weekend, so they would be eager to get back to winning ways in this midweek clash.
Unai Emery will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to name an unchanged first XI for this game. Hence, Ollie Watkins will once again spearhead Aston Villa’s attack in the final third.
4-2-3-1 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Bayern Munich
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will feature in between the sticks for the Villans after shipping in two goals in his last outing. Diego Carlos will play alongside Pau Torres at the heart of Emery’s backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the game.
Ezri Konsa could keep his place at right-back while Lucas Digne hopes to prove his worth on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Ian Maatsen and Lamare Bogarde will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Youri Tielemans will operate along with Amadou Onana at the centre of the Aston Villa midfield as they look to dominate the game and engineer some clear-cut chances in the final third.
The gifted trio of Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Rogers and Leon Bailey will operate just ahead of them as part of Emery’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they want to threaten the Bayern goal this Wednesday night.
Emi Buendia and Ross Barkley will have to settle for a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
Ollie Watkins will lead the line for the Merseyside club up top. He has to find a way to cause some problems for the opposition centre-back in midweek.
Jhon Duran will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages of this clash if the Villans are in need of a goal by then.
