In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur have been offered a chance to recruit Yusuf Yazici who is currently a free agent. It has been mentioned that Spurs are facing competition from Manchester United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa in the race to land the Turkiye international.
Yazici’s Recent Season In French Football
Yazici managed to catch the eye at times for Lille in the previous campaign when he put in a handful of impressive displays for them in Ligue 1. The Turkish talent played in 42 matches for the French outfit last season, finding the back of the net 12 times and securing four assists across all competitions.
The 27-year-old was a good performer in the final third as he averaged 1.5 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Ligue 1 football. He even distributed the ball relatively well after completing 79.2% of his attempted passes in the French top tier (stats via whoscored).
Yazici is a free agent at the moment which makes him an affordable choice for Tottenham to consider this month.
Will Yazici Be A Decent Option For Tottenham Hotspur?
Yazici is a good dribbler with the ball and has got the vision to set up a few decent plays for others around him in the final third. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals up top.
The Turkiye international is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a centre-forward or as a right-sided wide player if needed. However, he might struggle to cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs decide to move in for him.
Yazici would bring more firepower to Tottenham head coach Angelos Postecoglu’s frontline. He is good enough to serve as a decent back-up to James Maddison at the North London club. Furthermore, the Turkish talent is a free agent right now and would be a good option for Tottenham to consider this month.
At 27, Yazici is entering his prime and could help Spurs challenge across all fronts over the next few years. Thus, Postecolgu would be wise to offer the Turkish attacker a chance to prove his worth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a short-term deal.
