In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It has been stated that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring the English forward to North London next year.
Calvert-Lewin’s Recent Campaign At Everton
Calvert-Lewin struggled to catch the eye at the Merseyside club last season but managed to put in a few impressive displays for them in the final third. The 27-year-old banged in eight goals and grabbed three assists in 38 matches for Everton in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Sheffield-born talent proved his worth at times in the final third and did well to average 2.3 shots, 0.6 key passes and 0.4 dribbles per game in Premier League football. However, he was a bit untidy when interchanging possession with his teammates in the opponent’s half after making just 56.9% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at Goodison Park will expire at the end of this campaign which could open the door for Spurs to sign him on the cheap this January or on a free transfer next summer.
Will Calvert-Lewin Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Ange Postecoglu?
Calvert-Lewin can engineer some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal and is a decent finisher in the final third when he is playing with confidence on the field. Standing at 1.89m, he is a towering presence in the air and can win his fair share of aerial duels.
The English attacker can even create the odd chance for his teammates up top. However, he has struggled to be consistent for Everton and has been quite injury-prone for them in recent years.
Still, Calvert-Lewin has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham. We can expect him to add more firepower to Ange Postecoglu’s attack. Calvert-Lewin will undeniably help the North London club challenge across all fronts in the coming years.
At 27, the English talent is entering his prime which makes him a decent choice for Spurs to pursue next year. Thus, Tottenham would be wise to try and snap him up on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
