Barcelona will clash heads with Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Thursday night as they look to secure a positive result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Catalan club managed to secure a dominant 4-1 win over Girona recently which should give them a ton of confidence ahead of this midfield clash in Europe.
Hansi Flick will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make one change to his first XI for this game. Ferran Torres will get a chance to impress from the start of this contest in the injury absence of Dani Olmo.
4-2-3-1 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Monaco
Defence
Marc-Andre ter Stegen will feature in between the sticks for the Catalan club after shipping in one goal in his last appearance. Pau Cubarsi will function alongside Inigo Martinez at the centre of the Barcelona backline as they try to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.
Jules Kounde will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Alejandro Balde tries to catch the eye on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will get the license to get forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.
Hector Fort and Eric Garcia will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Pedri and Marc Casado will anchor the midfield for the Catalan outfit as they hope to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park. The gifted trio of Ferran Torres, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal will play just ahead of them as part of Barca’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they want to create enough chances for Barcelona to win this contest on Thursday night.
Pablo Torre will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second half if required.
Attack
Robert Lewandowski will spearhead Barcelona’s attack in the final third. The Polish striker has to find a way to be a constant menace up top.
Pau Victor will have to settle for a place on the bench as he waits for his opportunity to shine in the latter stages of the game if Barca are in need of a goal by then.
