In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Real Madrid are hoping to land Nottingham Forest defender Murillo. It has been revealed that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Brazilian centre-back.
Murillo’s Impressive Start To This Premier League Campaign
Murillo has made a solid campaign at the English club as he has put in a run of impressive displays at the heart of their defence. The Brazilian talent featured in five matches for the Midlands outfit this season in the league.
The 22-year-old has been a rock at the back for Nottingham and has done well to average 1.2 tackles and 5.8 clearances per game in Premier League football. He has even distributed possession from inside his half after completing 79.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the City Ground will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for Los Blancos to snap him up on the cheap next year.
Is Murillo A Good Option For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Murillo is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to make some timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot.
Standing at 1.84m, the Brazilian talent can use his strong frame to win a few aerial duels for his team. He is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. We can expect Murillo to add more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming years.
At 22, Murillo has got a bright future ahead of him which makes him a decent option for Los Blancos to consider next year. However, he might need some time to adjust to life at the Madrid club if Ancelotti manage to get him on board.
Murillo might even help Real Madrid compete for a lot of major honours over the next decade. Therefore, Ancelotti should focus on getting a deal over the line for him soon.
