In a recent report, Defensa Central revealed that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies this January. It has been stated that Los Blancos are open to agreeing on a €15m deal to land the Canada international but the Bavarian club are unwilling to let him leave this winter.
Davies’ Good Run Of Form In German Football
Davies had a decent campaign at the German club recently after he put in a string of impressive performances on the left side of their backline. The Canadian left-back made 42 appearances for Bayern Munich last season, scoring three goals and picking up six assists on all fronts.
The 23-year-old was a decent performer on the left flank and deserves credit for averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 1.3 key passes and 2.4 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga. He was even accurate when distributing the ball based on his pass completion rate of 88.9% in league football (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Allianz Arena will run out at the end of this campaign which could open the door for Real Madrid to sign him on a cut-price deal this January if Bayern are willing to do business for their prized asset.
Will Davies Be A Good Choice For Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti?
Davies is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when required and can set up a few promising chances for his teammates from the left wing.
The Canadian talent is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and has got the pace to get in behind the opponent’s defence. He is primarily a left-back but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so.
Davies would no doubt enhance the quality of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI. He would serve as an upgrade over Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia at the Madrid club. Therefore, it makes sense for Los Blancos to try and recruit him on the cheap in the winter transfer period. Another option for Ancelotti would be to wait until next summer when Davies is set to become a free agent. Either way, the Bayern talent would be a great choice for Real Madrid to pursue next year.
