Arsenal will face off against Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday night as they look to secure a good result away from home in the UEFA Champions League. The Gunners managed to earn a narrow 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby last weekend which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this clash.
Mikel Arteta will set his men up in a 4-3-3 formation once again and is expected to make a few changes to his first XI for this game. Ethan Nwaneri, Declan Rice and Raheem Sterling could all get a chance to play from the start of this contest in midweek.
4-3-3 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Atalanta
Defence
David Raya will feature in between the sticks for the Gunners after keeping a clean sheet in his last outing. Gabriel will continue to operate alongside William Saliba at the heart of the Arsenal defence as they try to maintain a good shape on the defensive end of the field.
Ben White will function as the right-back while Jurrien Timber looks to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Jakub Kiwior will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Arteta might opt for a midfield comprised of Kai Havertz, Jorginho and Declan Rice. Their main focus would be on retaining possession well at the centre of the park and engineering some decent chances in the final third.
Thomas Partey will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.
Attack
Raheem Sterling will try to catch the eye on the left flank while Ethan Nwaneri looks to prove his worth as the right-winger. Gabriel Jesus will lead the charge for the Gunners down the middle. He has to find a way to pose a real threat in and around the Atalanta penalty box.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to influence the game if required. However, Bukayo Saka is unlikely to recover in time for this game.
