In a recent report, TransferWatch.nl claimed that Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is on the radar of Ajax. It has been stated that the Amsterdam giants are hoping to recruit the Danish midfield ace from the Red Devils before the Dutch transfer deadline.
Eriksen’s Solid Campaign At Old Trafford
Eriksen was a decent presence in Erik ten Hag’s squad last season when he put in a few impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 32-year-old scored one goal and secured three assists in 28 appearances in the previous campaign across various competitions.
The Denmark international proved his worth at times and did well to average 0.8 tackles, 0.5 clearances, 0.6 shots and 1.2 key passes per game in Premier League football. He was even careful with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 84.1% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).
His current deal at the Mancunian club will run out at the end of this season. Thus, Man United would be wise to cash in on him soon or else risk losing him as a free agent next summer.
Can Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag Afford To Lose Eriksen?
Eriksen is a good tackler of the ball and usually puts his foot through the ball when needed. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to play a few decisive passes in the final third.
The Danish talent is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a left-sided wide player if required. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and could still serve as a key asset in Man United boss Erik ten Hag’s squad this season.
At 32, Eriksen might still have a good year left in him to play at a high level. Therefore, the Red Devils simply cannot afford to lose a player of his quality if they want to compete across all fronts this season. With all things considered, ten Hag would be wise to keep hold of Eriksen until he becomes a free agent at the end of this campaign.
